Shawn Yang is a partner at Z Wang and Associates with primary focus on deportation and removal defense and real estate transactions. Shawn is committed to providing high-quality representation and passionate advocate for every client.

Shawn has been practicing before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals and has represented many clients in their removal proceedings. Shawn understands the seriousness and interests at stake for clients in removal proceedings. With Shawn’s representation, many clients have been able to stay in the United States with their families and obtain legal status. Through his representation before the Immigration Court, Shawn has witnessed moments of clients’ excitement, joy, and even tears when immigration judges granted their requests for relief.

In real estate practice, Shawn represents both commercial and residential buyers, sellers, tenants and landlords. Clients are satisfied to entrust their investments and future homes to Shawn to review their contracts and leases, address their concerns, and negotiate on their behalf, so they can close their transactions on time and smoothly. It is always his comfort and joy to see the moment when clients own their dream homes and open their new business after his legal services and efforts.

Shawn also represents corporate shareholders in corporation formations, drafting corporation documents, shareholders’ disputes, and lawsuits.

Shawn earned his Juris Doctor degree from Valparaiso University Law School and Bachelor of Law from the University of International Relations. At law school, Shawn received highest grade distinctions in the areas of Property Law and Constitutional Law. Shawn also clerked for four honorable Judges in Marshall, Porter, La Porte, and Lake Counties in the State of Indiana and was exposed to a variety of cases.

Shawn is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and the federal district courts of the Northern District of Illinois, Central District of Illinois, and Northern District of Indiana. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association.
