Zhidong Wang (Z), founder and partner at Z Wang & Associates, PC is a nationally acclaimed attorney embarking on his third decade of serving the Chinese community nationwide. Growing up in China during the Cultural Revolution, Z taught himself a variety of subjects with whatever books he could lay his hands on. By 1987, Z had successfully completed his master’s program in International Relations in Beijing. Having achieved the epitome of what he could accomplish in China, Z came to the United States with little money and a wealth of determination. In 1994, Z graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School then in 1996 opened the doors to his own law firm, Z. Wang & Associates after a two-year service with a big firm in Chicago.

From 1996 to 2004, Z's law practice focused primarily on immigration law and China practice. He has assisted thousands from the Asian Community with their immigration, real estate and business transactions. His China practice grew along with his reputation as hundreds of Asian companies have sought his advice and counsel on the implementation of business start-ups in the United States as well as U.S. companies with their market entry ventures into China.

During the past two decades, Z has expanded the firm’s practice to civil litigation, criminal defense, real estate, business transaction, and corporate matters.  His work has been acknowledged and reported by national media in China and in the U.S.

Z spent countless hours helping Yingying Zhang’s family in their searching of her body and justice in the United States since the tragedy in 2017.  Now he is representing six Chinese families in their wrongful death lawsuits in the US Federal Court against Boeing and other defendants related to an aviation disaster happened in Ethiopia in 2019.

Z has been admitted to the Bar in the State of Illinois, two Federal District Courts in Illinois, and the Federal Courts of Appeals for the Second and Seventh Circuit. He is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. In addition to these memberships, Z served as a Director of the Board for the Notre Dame Law Association for 20 years. Since 2008, he has been chosen, as the only one from the Midwest U.S., to serve as a legal counsel for the Legal Advisory Committee of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese.
