  • Zhidong Wang

    Founder | Managing Partner

    Zhidong Wang (Z), founder and managing partner at Wang, Leonard, Condon & Seyfried, is a nationally acclaimed attorney embarking on his third decade of serving the Chinese community nationwide. Growing up in China during the Cultural Revolution, Z taught himself a variety of subjects with whatever books he could lay his hands on. By 1987, Z had successfully completed his master’s program in International Relations in Beijing. Having achieved the epitome of what he could accomplish in China, Z came to the United States with little money and a wealth of determination. In 1994, Z graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School then in 1996 opened the doors to his own law firm, Z. Wang & Associates after a two-year service with a big firm in Chicago.

    From 1996 to 2004, Z's law practice focused primarily on immigration law and his China practice. He has assisted thousands from the Asian Community with their immigration, real estate and business transactions. His China practice grew along with his reputation as hundreds of Asian companies have sought his advice and counsel on the implementation of business start-ups in the United States as well as U.S. companies with their market entry ventures into China.

    During the past two decades, Z has expanded the firm’s practice to civil litigation, criminal trials, real estate, business transaction, and corporate matters. His work has been acknowledged and reported by national media in China and in the U.S.

    Z spent countless hours helping Yingying Zhang’s family in their searching of her body and justice in the United States since the tragedy in 2017. Now he is representing six Chinese families in their wrongful death lawsuits in the US Federal Court against Boeing and other defendants related to an aviation disaster happened in Ethiopia in 2019.

    Z has been admitted to the Bar in the State of Illinois, two Federal District Courts in Illinois, and the Federal Courts of Appeals for the Second and Seventh Circuit. He is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. In addition to these memberships, Z served as a Director of the Board for the Notre Dame Law Association for 20 years.Since 2008, he has been chosen, as the only one from the Midwest U.S., to serve as a legal counsel for the Legal Advisory Committee of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese.

  • William Leonard

    Managing Partner

    Some cases require such a tenacious degree of determination and detailed investigation that only the most relentless of attorneys can succeed. Those cases are the terrain of Bill Leonard. Whether it is a teenager severely burned by an overhead electrical wire, an IT professional accused of Federal Wire Tap and Computer Fraud violations or a severe personal injury cover-up by an insurance company, the perseverance to dig through mountains of records in search of a key document or potential witness is one of the aspects of litigation that motivate Bill.

    Bill is also greatly respected by the bar for his exceptional ability to understand complicated technical matters and to decipher and present them in an understandable way. He honed his skills in the art of communicating complex technical matters while working for a computer firm, all the while graduating with High Honors with a Bachelor in Science degree in Business Administration from Valparaiso University. While at heart, Bill will always be an advocate for the injured, he also enjoys the complex technological case that utilizes his command of digital media and communications. Bill’s thorough understanding of electronic systems and electronically stored information has been strategically vital to WLC’s litigation practice where he continues to spearhead WLC’s complex litigations cases. Bill has been actively involved in the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and consistently receives high marks from his colleagues for his aggressive and meticulous case preparation and courtroom skills.

    Before becoming a founding partner at WLC, Bill handled personal injury defense and commercial litigation for ComEd at the firm of Hoffman, Burke & Bozick, a leading defense litigation firm in Chicago.

    Bill received his law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1994, graduating with Honors.

    Prior to entering law school in 1991, Mr. Leonard worked in operations, marketing and sales for both a regional computer corporation and a regional office products company. Whether it is a medical malpractice case resulting in the death of a 3-month-old baby, a personal injury case involving traumatic brain injury or severe electrical burns, commercial cases involving breach of contract or breach of fiduciary duty claims in the millions, and even hundreds of millions of dollars, or employment law disputes, the perseverance…

    Bill is married, has two children and lives in Park Ridge, Illinois.

  • Jamie Hossa

    Associate

    Jamie Hossa is an associate attorney at Wang, Leonard, Condon & Seyfried. She concentrates her immigration practice in the areas of business, employment, and family-based matters, advocating for her clients before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Department of Labor, and the Department of State.

    At WLCS, Jamie represents multinational companies, startups, academic institutions, scientific laboratories, entrepreneurs, athletes, artists, musicians, and professionals in a wide range of nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions, including H-1B, L-1, E-2, O, P, EB-1A (Individuals with Extraordinary Ability), EB-1B (Outstanding Professors or Researchers), EB-1C (Multinational Managers or Executives), National Interest Waiver, PERM labor certification, and EB-5 Immigrant Investor petitions.

    Jamie also represents individuals and families in their applications for permanent residency, conditional removal, and naturalization, and has also developed a successful practice in 212(h), 212(i), and provisional unlawful presence waivers.

    Jamie began her practice in the refugee communities, assisting numerous clients with their Asylum and Withholding of Removal cases, as well as in removal proceedings and before the Board of Immigration Appeals. She has also successfully litigated an international child abduction case, securing the return of a child to his home country pursuant to the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.

    Jamie earned her Juris Doctorate in 2010 and her Master of Laws, with a specialization in Trial Advocacy, in 2011, both from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

    Jamie’s experiences have honed her skills as a determined and passionate advocate for immigrant workers, students, and families and she is dedicated to providing high-quality legal representation to each of her clients.

  • Rui "Rae" Li

    Associate

    Rae is an associate attorney at Wang, Leonard, Condon & Seyfried. She focuses her practice in humanitarian immigration programs and removal defenses to assist clients who need shelter to stay in the United States with lawful status.

    Prior to joining WLCS, Rae worked for a boutique immigration law firm in Washington, DC Metropolitan Area for three years, where she gained extensive immigration law experience. Specialized in employment-based immigration, she has enabled numerous individuals to legally work in the United States and obtain green cards, and helped multinational companies to incorporate and do business in the United States with the best qualifying alien employees. Besides, through handling a wide range of cases, Rae also masters immigration law and procedures in other areas, including family-based immigration, waivers, student visas, naturalizations, etc. She has successfully represented clients in USCIS Motions, Administrative Appeals, and Field Offices Interviews.

    Rae earned her Juris Doctor degree from Case Western University School of Law after obtaining her LLM degree in International Business Law from the same law school. Before coming to the United States, she studied at East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai, China, and received Bachelor of Law degree in International Economic Law.

    Rae is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and the State of New York and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Rae is fluent in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and English.

  • Ning “Neil” Ding

    Associate

    Ning (Neil) Ding is an associate attorney at Wang, Leonard, Condon & Seyfried, where he focuses on family-based immigration, including family-based petitions, waivers, adjustments of status, and Naturalization applications. His practice also includes divorce.

    Mr. Ding has experience working in the chambers of Judge Linnea E. Thompson of the State of Illinois, the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit. Before law school in the U.S., he has experience working as a law clerk in the Second Intermediate People’s Court of Beijing, Real-estate Division. After that, Mr. Ding worked as a project manager at a leading multinational trading company in China and Southeast Asia involved in business strategy and compliance.

    Mr. Ding earned his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in May 2018. While in law school, Mr. Ding received a Certificate in Financial Markets Compliance, and won the Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI) Award for the highest grade in his Legal Writing class. As a law student, Mr. Ding was an executive articles editor of the Journal of Intellectual Property, and an editor of Employee Rights and Employment Policy Journal. He also earned his LL.M. in International Human Rights from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in May 2014. Prior to law school in the U.S., Mr. Ding received his law degree from Northwestern Polytechnic University in China.

  • Shawn Yang

    Associate

    Shawn Yang is an associate attorney at Wang, Leonard, Condon & Seyfried with primary focus on immigration court and real estate transactions. Shawn is committed to provide high-quality representation and passionate advocate for every client.

    Shawn has been practicing before the Chicago Immigration Court constantly and has represented multiple clients in their removal proceedings. With Shawn’s representation, many clients were able to stay in the United States with their families and were granted with legal status. Through his representation before the Immigration Court, Shawn has witnessed the moments of clients’ excitement, joy, and even tear when immigration judge granted reliefs.

    In real estate practice, Shawn represents both commercial and residential buyers, sellers, tenants and landlords. It is always his comfort and joy to see the moment when clients own their dream house and open their new business with his legal assistance.

    Shawn earned his Juris Doctor degree from Valparaiso University Law School and Bachelor of Law from University of International Relations. In second year at law school, Shawn participated at Pace International Criminal Moot Court competition as a defense attorney and became an Executive Board member in charge of research at school International Moot Court Society. Shawn also received highest grade distinctions in the areas of Property Law and Constitutional Law.

    While in law school, Shawn clerked for four honorable Judges in Marshall, Porter, La Porte, and Lake Counties in Indiana and exposed to varieties of cases. In the third year of law school, Shawn joined Law School Immigration Clinic and work with well-experienced immigration attorneys to represent immigrants in asylum cases. Throughout the year, Shawn helped clients to file asylum application, draft case documents, collecting evidence, and preparing for interviews and court hearings. At the critical point of 2017 when government was going to terminate DACA program, Shawn and clinic members assisted Dreamers to file and renew their status and maintain their legal status in the U.S. for their best interests. He has since expanded his experience to asylum-based immigration including asylum interview and immigration court hearings.

    Shawn is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and is a member of American Bar Association, American Immigration Lawyers Association, as well as Chicago Bar Association.
